Warming is changing the risk landscape in the Himalayas

Preliminary analyses indicate that a massive rock-and-ice avalanche triggered the devastating flood along the Nepal–Tibet border on 26 August 2026. “The precise sequence of events has yet to be established. NGI signs cooperation agreement with Japan’s OYO Corporation

The Norwegian Geotechnical Institute (NGI) and Japan’s OYO Corporation signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) in Tokyo on 3 June. The agreement sets a framework for joint projects, joint research, and knowledge sharing in offshore wind, and supports NGI’s entry into the fast-growing Japanese market.

MINEYE - Earth observation techniques for mine life cycle monitoring

The MINEYE project aims to optimize European mining operations by addressing the entire mining value chain, from explorations to mine closure. The project will develop tools for visualization and decision-making, supported by dynamic updates of Earth Observation data and knowledge using machine learning and digital twin technologies.
