Creating a dedicated forum for floating wind anchoring systems

Experts from industry, academia and research gathered in Paris on 24 September for the first International Seminar on Offshore Anchoring Systems (OASIS). Jointly organized by the Norwegian Geotechnical Institute (NGI) and Université Gustave Eiffel (UGE), the seminar was established to meet the growing need for a dedicated forum on anchoring systems for floating offshore wind.

The Research Council of Norway has awarded NGI 10 million for CryoGas, a project that will determine how much methane lies trapped beneath Svalbard's permafrost and glaciers, and how much could escape as the ice retreats.

Emissions of PFAS Must Be Stopped to protect human health and the environment

Chemical pollution from so-called “forever chemicals” poses major challenges to human health and the environment. For five years, an EU funded research and innovation project has investigated the scale of the problem and possible solutions for persistent, mobile and toxic chemicals, including PFAS. Their message is clear: preventative solutions are needed because it is only possible to clean up 2 % of today’s emissions.

ProWind - Norwegian Infrastructure Platform for Foundation Technology Research in Offshore Wind

ProWind aims to strengthen Norway’s role in offshore wind and establish a unique national infrastructure for research dedicated to offshore wind.

SAFERCLAY: SAFER coexistence in quick CLAY areas

SAFERCLAY is a research project focusing on developing methods to assess changes in quick clay landslide risk with time. SAFERCLAY will provide a new approach for adapted and sustainable risk management for living and building in quick clay areas, including recommendations to ensure both public and environmental safety.

MINEYE - Earth observation techniques for mine life cycle monitoring

The MINEYE project aims to optimize European mining operations by addressing the entire mining value chain, from explorations to mine closure. The project will develop tools for visualization and decision-making, supported by dynamic updates of Earth Observation data and knowledge using machine learning and digital twin technologies.
