WP4: Smart monitoring

Results from WP1-WP3 will help select parameters to be monitored during the TSF life cycle:

• Instrument and collect InSAR data for deformation, settlements and phreatic levels.
   
• Implement geophysical methods to understand dynamics in tailings dams (e.g. segregation, changes in saturation).
   
• Develop intelligent automated system to screen, sort and interpret data and establish trends with time, transferable to client(s). The system also will identify the need for changes in tailings management and mitigation measures.
   
• Consider machine learning approaches for interpretation of monitoring data.

Uncertainties from the monitoring will be related to the models to identify hazard and risk at the different stages of the TSF life. Machine learning approaches will be considered.
