The project presents significant geotechnical challenges due to complex foundation conditions, seismic considerations, and the need for robust instrumentation to ensure long-term safety and performance.

NGI is supporting Webuild, the project’s main contractor, with expert support and review on geotechnical aspects such as dam material and foundation assessments, stability aspects, and seismic considerations. NGI also advises on instrumentation and monitoring strategies, ensuring that the dam’s behaviour will be closely tracked during construction and operation. Our support includes reviewing the overall monitoring design, advising on the selection and placement of instruments, and providing guidance on construction and installation procedures. The aim is that the monitoring data shall be reliable and enable timely detection of any performance issues throughout the project.

Through our geotechnical and monitoring support, NGI helps Webuild and the dam owner to manage and mitigate project risks, ensuring that both design and construction adhere to internationally recognized dam safety principles.
