Methodology for securing buildings against floods and landslides

NGI and PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) have been engaged as consultants in a project that has developed a new methodology for assessing the overall need to secure existing buildings against floods and landslides. The Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE) was the client and project manager.

NATWIP - nature based solutions for water problems in the peri-urban

The NATWIP project “Nature Based Solutions for Water Management in the Periurban” aims to contribute to closing the water cycle gap by exploring the potentials that Nature Based Solutions (NBS) offer to address water management challenges in landscape areas that have been neglected because they lie in the transition zones between the urban and the rural, referred to as periurban areas.

New double-track: Sandbukta–Moss–Såstad

Bane NOR is constructing 10 km of new double-track between Sandbukta and Såstad in Moss municipality. The double-track will increase capacity on the Østfold Line, allowing more trains per hour - and a travel time between Oslo and Moss of less than 30 minutes. In downtown Moss, a completely new railway station will be established in an area with challenging ground conditions and area stability.

Nydalsbrua in Trondheim

The environmental package in Trondheim includes a new road bridge over the Nidelva north of the existing Sluppen bridge with associated road facilities.

OC6 (Offshore Code Comparison Collaboration, Continued, with Correlation, and unCertainty) is a research project to improve the predictive capabilities of offshore wind computer modelling tools.

NGI is participating in several projects in Asia and Africa to develop plastic recycling systems that are simple and effective and can be manufactured, maintained, and run locally.

RedWin 2 - REDucing cost of offshore WINd

The project "RedWin 2 – REDucing cost of offshore WINd by integrated structural and geotechnical design" is an IPN research project funded under the ENERGIX program of the Research Council of Norway. The primary objective of RedWin 2 is to advance and merge engineering tools and methods, enabling designers of offshore wind turbine foundations to apply recent research and development results in design practice. This shall be achieved by developing a streamlined design workflow for optimization relevant for developers and designers of Offshore Wind Farms, both in Norway and internationally.

Safety and risk streaming through the city - Halden municipality

When the municipality of Halden began to review its area planning, they saw a need for more knowledge about safety and risk along two streams running through the center of the city; Remmenbekken and Schultzebekken.

Sustainable Mine Tailings

A three year R&D project initiated by NGI to develop geo-solutions for sustainable and robust management of Tailings Storage Facilities (TSFs), addressing the entire life cycle from planning to operation and closure. The project is financed through NGI's annual basic research funding from the Research Council of Norway.
