Ridgway Hill joins NGI from Ørsted, where she has held several senior positions over the past six years, most recently as Senior Lead Specialist. She previously served as Head of Geotechnical Assessment in the United States, and has also held key roles at Offshore Wind Consultants (OWC), Atkins, and Fugro. In total, she brings over 25 years of experience in offshore geotechnical engineering, with extensive expertise in both site characterization and foundation design.
“I’m truly excited to be joining NGI and to lead the establishment of the London office. NGI’s combination of scientific excellence and practical engineering is something I’ve always admired. I look forward to building the UK team and working closely with clients and partners to advance safe, efficient, and sustainable offshore energy solutions,” Ridgway Hill says.

Alice Ridgway Hill will join NGI as Manager of the new London office, bringing nearly three decades of offshore geotechnical experience.
Broad technical expertise built over decades
Her technical background spans a broad range of applications, including axial and lateral pile capacity, shallow foundation design, spudcan penetration, slope stability, and ground improvement assessments. She holds an MSc in Soil Mechanics from Imperial College London and a BEng from the University of Leeds. She is licensed as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the United States.
“Alice has an impressive combination of technical depth and leadership experience. She has worked on both sides of the table – with developers, consultants, and contractors – and knows how to bring teams together to deliver robust offshore design solutions,” says Patrizia Vitale, Head of Offshore Geotechnical Design and responsible for establishing NGI’s London office.
Building NGI’s presence in the UK
Before formally joining NGI at the start of 2026, Ridgway Hill represented NGI at the Floating Offshore Wind event in Aberdeen this week. She also plans to visit Oslo later in the year to meet colleagues and become acquainted with the organisation.
“We are thrilled to have Alice on board. She shares NGI’s commitment to safety, quality, and sustainable offshore energy development, and will play a central role in building our presence in the UK,” Vitale adds.
NGI’s London office will initially consist of four to six employees. Recruitment for the remaining positions is underway, and further details about the central London office location will be shared later this year.
