Anchor Design - Scarborough FPU
Working on behalf of McDermott in Australia, NGI performed the detailed geotechnical design of the suction anchors to moor the Scarborough Floating Production Unit, which will process the natural gas before it is transported back to shore.
Seagreen - foundation installation for the world's deepest offshore wind farm
Huge buckets, silently sucked into the seabed with the opening down, keep the wind turbines on the Seagreen field off the east coast of Scotland in place on the seabed. Together with FRAMO, NGI had the task of installing the bucket foundations on the 114 jacket substructures for the wind turbines.

INITIATOR is a project funded by the Research Council of Norway from 2021-2023, ending June 2023. The main aim of INITIATOR is to more widely disseminate how High-Performance Computing (HPC) can help solve new or more complex geohazard-related problems that are relevant to society using supercomputers.

Wind turbine jacket foundation with suction buckets
DONG Energy successfully installed the world's first offshore wind turbine foundation based on the Suction Bucket Jacket (SBJ) technology in August 2014. NGI was responsible for geotechnical design, instrumentation, and monitoring system.
NGI has been commissioned to design solutions for cleaning up contaminated sediments in the Port of Trondheim and then to follow up on the work.
Government Building Complex on alum shale
The building site in Regjeringskvartalet, the Government Building Complex, consists mainly of alum shale and other black clay shales. In addition to the planning and follow-up of groundwork for tunnel and excavation pits for the new complex, NGI's work has included sampling, analysis and characterization of acidified rock masses.
Measurement of PFAS and geoenvironmental assistance to OSL
NGI has a frame agreement with OSL (now a part of Avinor) to provide geoenvironmental consulting and assistance at the OSL airport at Gardermoen.
