Environmental toxins

Environmental toxins include both the "classic" environmental toxins that we are well familiar with (e.g. PAH and PCB), but also new environmental toxins such as PFAS (per and polyfluorinated alkyl substances).

NGI has specialist expertise in the properties of environmental toxins, risks associated with environmental toxins, and current methods of action. In recent years, we have had a lot of research and advice related to the substance group PFAS (per and polyfluorinated alkyl substances). The substances do not break down in nature and have toxic effects on organisms. The substance group is very large, and new environmental toxins within the substance group are constantly being discovered.

NGI has been involved in the development of the Norwegian Environment Agency's guidance material for risk assessment for human health and the risk of the spread of environmental toxins. Behind the guides is also a comprehensive review of the physico-chemical properties of substances.
