My name is Ida and I am a software developer with background in applied mathematics and numerical modelling. I have experience from DNV with software for strength assessment of offshore structures, and Squarehead with software for microphone systems. I joined NGI this spring, enjoying new challenges within geotechnics.

   

What do you work with in NGI Digital?

I currently develop software for sensor data. I will continue working on this, and related projects, but I will also start working on more of our portfolio next year.

What is your favorite part of working in NGI Digital?

I am learning so much, and there is a lot of willingness to share knowledge! Even though I just joined, I have been involved in several interesting projects across the company. It is exiting to start in a new section, driving the digital transformation in the company.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I love the mountains, both summer and winter. At home in Oslo, I enjoy hiking or running in “marka” or going out for good food and wine.

  

Who are you and what background do you have?

My name is Jiyang. I am a senior developer in NGI Digital with an extensive research background in Geophysics.

I obtained my bachelor's and MSc degrees in GIS and Geophysics in China in 2007 and 2010. I did my Ph.D. in Geophysics from the University of Missouri (USA). Before landing in Norway, I did one-year postdoc training at the University of Alberta (Canada). Before joining NGI Digital, I served five and half years in Kalkulo (Simula/Bluware), initially as a Geoscientist and later as a Senior Scientific Developer. I conducted research projects and developed cloud-based applications for the oil and gas industry.

   

What do you work with in NGI Digital?

My current work focuses on building cloud-native applications that aim to digitalize the geo-processes and standardize the way of data collection, storage, processing, analyzing, and visualization. I use frontend technology like Javascript and React to build user interfaces and data visualization charts. I also utilize my geoscience expertise to bridge the gaps between geoscience problems and IT solutions.

What is your favorite part of working in NGI Digital?

Though I have been enjoying working with friendly and professional colleagues in NGI Digital whose competencies cover different aspects of both IT development and geoscience, but my favorite part of working in NGI Digital is that we have a challenging and insightful long-term goal to work with – to lift the NGI services and improve the work efficiency by digitalizing and automating the core geo processes and data workflow.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I am fascinated by the beauty of natural landscapes in Norway.  I enjoy spending my spare time with my family and friends to explore the beauty of nature, which could mean after-work ski in snow-covered forests or a road trip to the west coast with days of hiking in the mountains.

  

Who are you and what background do you have?

My name is Erling and I’ve studied automation, however never worked as an automation engineer. I started working with Unix mini machines and then progressed to DOS and PCs. I’ve worked with PCs since 1985, with focus on the hardware side. During the 1990s I worked a lot with Novell Netware, and then later with NT and Active Directory. I also have experience working with software asset management, software deployment and Citrix.

   

What do you work with in NGI Digital?

Currently I work a lot with system center configuration manager (SCCM), Citrix, software, licenses and procurement.

What is your favorite part of working in NGI Digital?

I have worked at NGI for 14 years. My favorite part of working here is all the nice colleagues and varied work tasks.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I live in Lommedalen in Bærum. I drive my motorcycle and enjoy time on my terrasse during the summer, and skiing during the winter.
