Since the 1950s, we at NGI (the Norwegian Geotechnical Institute) have been hooked on soil, rock and snow. In fact so much so that our geotechnical expertise is in demand in several parts of the world – from Bhutan to Bodø.
NGI is Norway's leading geotechnical specialist community and an international centre for research and consultancy in engineering geosciences. We are a private commercial foundation with head office and laboratories in Oslo, branch office in Trondheim, avalanche research station on Strynefjellet in Western Norway, overseas offices and geotechnical laboraty in Houston, Texas, USA, and offices in Perth, Western Australia. In addition, we have partnership agreements with well-established companies in the rest of the world.
We work within the fields of Offshore Energy; Building, Construction and Transportation; Natural Hazards; and Environmental Engineering.
