NGI's avalanche experts applied for professional member status with the American Avalanche Association (AAA) during the ISSW in Lake Tahoe in 2010. By spring 2011 they were all admitted as professional members.

Over the years NGI's avalanche experts have developed a close and fruitful contact with the AAA. This contact and the wish for a formal acknowledgement of their qualifications, led to the application for professional membership of the AAA. The NGI avalanche experts will all honor their new status to spread and support the work of the AAA.
