In 1996 a severe flood led to a natural covering (capping) of the most contaminated sediments by clean sand and silt.

The aim of the project is to document the long term effect of the capping. Several samples from the seabed sediments show the development of the seabed through the last 15 years will now be carefully analyzed. The project is done in cooperation between University Laval, ISMER/University of Quebec, Mc Gill University Montreal and NGI.

Radio-Canada showed great interest in the work and had a long TV broadcast in the end of May (french only).
