Nepal Hazard Risk Assessment Project

NGI/ICG was represented in Nepal when the project "Nepal Hazard Risk Assessment Project", financed by the World Bank, had its start up meeting in Kathmandu 10th September.

NGI/ICG (International Centre for Geohazards) work together with Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC) to map risk for landslides, earthquakes, floods, drought and epidemic outburst for Nepal. The methodology which will be used is according to what was developed for the hot-spot studies and risk mapping for Soth-East Asia.

Bjorn Kalsnes, Deputy Director of ICG, represented NGI/ICG in Nepal, and had meetings with an advisory group and a stakeholder group. In addition, there were several individual meetings to collect data from different institutions. - Everyone were very friendly and positive regarding this project, also to contribute with large amounts of valuable and relevant data, explains Kalsnes enthusiasticly.
