GeoSuite - geotechnical software package
Date: 10/7/2008
GeoSuite is a cooperation project between Norwegian and Swedish geotechnical communities, for development of a software package for geotechnical analysis and design. The work started in 2003 and is now near completion.

The background for initiating GeoSuite is that single firms alone do not have the resources for required software development, and also a need to standardise software for geotechnical analysis. The development within GeoSuite is based on the existing software for geotechnical analysis and presentation of data.
The focus for the work has been practical geotechnical design, from evaluation of site investigations to analysis for design of foundation solutions. GeoSuite is financed by The Research Council of Norway and contributions from the participating firms and institutions. The project has obtained EUREKA-status.
One of the project partners, ViaNova Systems, has been responsible for the development of the actual software. A comprehensive solution has been made for presentation of geo-data, including results from site investigations, and an integration between geotechnics and GIS (Geographical Information Systems) with an effective user interface. In addition, a standardised package for analysis of stability, deformation, sheet piles and regular piles has been developed. ViaNova has the responsibility for commercial aspects of the software package, which is marketed under the name Novapoint GeoSuite Toolbox.
GeoSuite has been developed with prime expertise from Norway and Sweeden, and the result is apowerful software package for geotechnical consultants.
Partners in the GeoSuite Project

have been most of the firms and institutions in the geotechnical community in Norway and a union of the Sweedish geotechnical community. The Research Council of Norway has supported the project financially and the participating partners have all contributed both financially and with own input. The following firms and institutions are the participating partners in the project:
