Tsunami hazard assessment for the North East Atlantic

Potential tsunamigenic sources in the North East Atlantic are assessed for a first screening of regional tsunami hazard. The study is performed within the framework of the EU project TRANSFER.

SafeLand project midterm

The EC FP7 project SafeLand coordinated by ICG is passing it's midterm, 18 of the total planned 36 months are over. The progress is as planned. More than 25 reports are prepared, either in a draft or final status.

Successful field work in Finneidfjord and off VesterĂ¥len

Within the framework of the SEABED-funding CDog (Coastal and Deepwater offshore geohazards), two highly successful surveys onboard G. O. Sars (Univ. Bergen) and R/V Seisma (NGU) were completed in the Summer of 2010, the first year of this research project.

Simulations of the tsunami on Samoa

NGI and ICG have made numerical simulations of generation and propagation of the tsunami which hit the Pacific islands Samoa and American Samoa on Wednesday morning Norwegian time.

Midway evaluation of ICG

The results of the midway evaluation of Centres of Excellence by the Research Council of Norway were announced on 15 December 2006. The evaluation of ICG activities was very positive and the Research Council of Norway will continue with its funding of ICG

PhD research on the stability of the Trondheim harbour

PhD researcher Jean Sebastien L'Heureux (NGU and NTNU) has revealed old quick clay slide deposits in the harbour of Trondheim. Knowledge of such deposits is of crucial importance for the stability and future development of the harbour.
