Database for slides and avalanches
Experts from Norwegian Geological Survey, NGI and The Norwegian Public Roads Administration have established a central and common Norwegian database for slides and avalanches.

The initial National database for slides consisted of slide incidents collected and systemized by the local historian Astor Furseth. Now 28.000 new slide incidents are integrated in the database. Information on the "new" slides originate from databases established by The Norwegian Public Roads Administration, the Norwegian National Rail Administration and NGI. In total the new database for slides and avalanchesnow contain comprehensive information on 31.500 sslide incidents.
The new database will be incorporated in the existing interactive GIT system, skrednett.no. NGI has written a paper, "Integrated database for rapid mass movements in Norway" published in Natural Hazards and Earth System Sciences. There a pdf-version of the article is also available.
