The Terzaghi and Peck Libraries
NGI has the honour to be the custodian of the Terzaghi and Peck Libraries. All academic material from Karl Terzaghi and his good colleague Ralph B. Peck has been given to NGI to be available for interested researchers.

The father of modern soil mechanics, Professor Karl Terzaghi from Harvard University donated all his academic and project material to NGI. His documents now form the Terzaghi Library, opened at NGI in 1967. NGI has had the privilege to host several internationally recognized researchers who have wanted to study Terzaghi's theories, methods, life and influence in more detail.
For more information about the Terzaghi Library see the lecture; "The Terzaghi Library" held by Suzanne Lacasse or the PDF-pamphlet "The Terzaghi Memoirs" (in the box on your right.)
Having observed how Terzaghi's archives were taken care of and was serving a useful purpose, Terzaghi's closest colleague, Professor Ralph B. Peck from the University of Illinois, offered to do the same. Towards the end of his career Prof. Peck donated his academic archives to NGI, which created a similar library opened in 2000.
In 2000 NGI published the NGI Publication 207, titled: "Professor Ralph B. Peck - Engineer, Educator, a Man of Judgement" which reveals the history of events related to the establishment of the Peck Library and Peck's professional private career. (See the PDF-version of NGI Publication 207 in the box on your right hand side)
